In the original gesture of the opera Lulu, I explored the relationship between characters and the gender politics through shadows. Then I translated the gesture into a design for an arena stage. A turntable and curtains around it create a center stage for Lulu to be viewed, and the male characters in the play will enter and exit the stage by lifting up the curtain, and they will sometimes stay and be voyeuristic around the lounging areas.
